Hammer toes is a condition where your toe bends and forms a claw-like shape. It usually affects your second, third, or fourth toe. If not treated, hammer toes can get worse and make it hard to walk. We are the leading podiatrists in Hong Kong and we are happy to provide the best hammer toes treatment plans.

There are two types of hammer toes:

  1. Flexible Hammer Toes

Flexible hammer toes are still moveable at the joint. This means that you can treat them without surgery. Flexible hammer toes are by far the most common type of hammer toes.

  1. Rigid Hammer Toes

Rigid hammer toes are in a fixed, claw-like position. Surgery is needed to treat this type of hammer toe.

  • Exercises
  • Splinting or taping your toe
  • Wearing shoes that fit properly and have a wide toe box

If you have rigid hammer toes, we will likely recommend surgery. This involves straightening out your toe joint. We may also need to remove part of your toe bone. Hammer toes can be a painful condition. But with the right hammer toes treatment, you can find relief.
